The 22nd-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team picked up a couple of non-conference wins on Wednesday, sweeping a non-conference doubleheader from the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters, at Lamson Park.

Louisiana won the first game, 4-1, before winning the second game in five-inning, mercy-rule fashion, 9-1.

In the opener, the Cajuns cored four unearned runs in the very first inning, as Sara Corbello and Samantha Walsh drove home runs, helping to give them the 4-0 advantage.

Those runs would turn out to be the only runs that Louisiana would score in the game, but it was all that was needed, as starting pitcher Jordan Wallace limited La. Tech to one run, on only four hits. The sophomore right-hander walked only one batter, while striking out six batters.

Wallace (10-5) recorded the win, while Michelle Jones (8-6) suffered the loss.

In the nightcap, Louisiana struck first again, as Sarah Draheim blasted a three-run home run in the bottom half of the first inning, giving them a quick 3-0 advantage.

The Cajuns would follow that three-run first inning with a three-run second inning, and then another three-run inning in the third.

That was more than enough for starting pitcher Victoria Brown, who allowed only three hits, and run run over the complete game, five-inning affair, striking out three, while not walking a single batter in the process.

Draheim led the Cajuns offensively, going 3-for-3, with a double, a homer, two runs scored, and five RBI's.

Brown (4-0) picked up the win for Louisiana, while Jones (8-7) suffered the loss for La. Tech.

With the two wins, the Cajuns improved to 17-9 on the year, while the Lady Techsters fell to 12-12.

Louisiana returns to the diamond this weekend, when they travel to Mobile, Alabama, to take on the South Alabama Jaguars, in a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference series.
