The 7th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team swept a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader from the UT-Arlington Mavericks on Saturday Lamson Park , winning the first game, 4-1, before taking the second game, 8-0, in six innings.

The two wins also gave Louisiana a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference sweep over UT-Arlington, after winning the first game of the series, 18-0, on Friday night.

The Cajuns are off to a perfect 3-0 start in their current nine-game homestand.

The sweep of the twinbill extended UL's current win streak over UT-Arlington to 11-consecutive games, and extended their current home win streak to 24 games, the longest win streak at Lamson Park since the 2011-2012 seasons, when the Cajuns won 39-straight home games.

In the opener, Louisiana scored three runs on only one hit in the bottom half of the first inning, taking advantage of four walks and a hit batter, to jump out to a 3-0 lead.

The Cajuns made it 4-0 in the bottom half of the third inning, when Aleah Craighton waked, and later scored only a bases loaded walk to Hayley Hayden.

The lone UT-Arlington run came in the top of the fifth inning, when Britni Barilli drew a bases loaded walk, scoring Rebecca Stokes.

Jordan Wallace (9-1) recorded the victory, the 82nd of her career, tossing a complete-game one-hitter, while striking out 16 hitters, which tied a season-high.

Kayla Donaldson (4-6) suffered the loss for UT-Arlington, allowing three hits, four runs, and 11 walks.

In the second game, Louisiana jumped out on top once again, scoring a run in the bottom half of the firs inning, when Shellie Landry walked, and then scored an unearned run on a single to right that was mishandled, making it 1-0, UL.

The Cajuns added three runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning, highlighted by a Sara Corbello two-run single, which extended their lead to 4-0.

Louisiana ended the game in the sixth inning, with four runs on five hits, winning the game in six-inning mercy-rule fashion, to complete the doubleheader and series sweep.

The Cajuns outhit the Mavericks, 9-2, with Samantha Walsh collecting two hits.

Christina Hamilton (5-1) picked-up the win for Louisiana, allowing only two hits, while striking out a season-high six batters.

Sam Montes (5-6) suffered the loss for the Mavericks, allowing 8 runs on 9 hits.

With the doubleheader sweep, Louisiana improved to 20-3, overall, and 5-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, while UT-Arlington dropped to 14-13, and 0-3, respectively.

The Cajuns return to action on Monday evening, when they play host to the Georgia Southern Eagles in a single game, representing the opening game of a three-game, Sun Belt Conference series.
