The 7th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team returns to play on Monday evening, when coach Michael Lotief’s squad plays host to the Georgia Southern Eagles in a Sun Belt Conference match-up at Lamson Park.

Monday's contest, the fourth in a nine-game homestand for Louisiana, will mark the opening game of a three-game, Sun Belt Conference series between the two squads.

The game will also mark the fourth of six games over a five-day timespan for the Cajuns.

First-pitch is scheduled for 6 o’clock.

The two teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader on Tuesday, which is slated to begin at 4 pm.

The Cajuns are currently 20-3, overall, and 5-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, sweeping a three-game conference set over the UT-Arlington Mavericks last weekend at Lamson Park.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .324, along with 39 home runs, 151 runs batted in, and 33 stolen bases in 41 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 173-30.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 1.16, compared to a 7.56 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .148 batting average against.

Georgia Southern will enter the match-up at 6-16, overall, and 0-3 in league play.

The Eagles are currently hitting a .252 as a team, along with 13 homers, and 75 RBI’s, while being out-scored by opponents, 128-78.

In the circle, Georgia Southern currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 4.60, while holding opponents to a .292 batting average against.

Louisiana leads the all-time series, 2-0, and will bring a 24-game home field win streak into the series.
