The 6th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team returns to play on Saturday afternoon, when coach Michael Lotief’s squad travels to Mobile, Alabama to take on the 23rd-ranked South Alabama Jaguars in a doubleheader, representing the first two games of a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference series.

First-pitch for game one of the Saturday twin-bill is scheduled noon.

The two teams will conclude the series, which is the conference-opening series for both teams, with a single game on Sunday at 1 pm.

The series marks the fourth, fifth, and sixth games during a seven-game road trip for Louisiana, who doesn’t return home until March 13.

The Cajuns are currently 15-2 on the season, after dropping two of three game to the 4th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in a non-conference series last weekend in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .324, along with 30 home runs, 107 runs batted in, and 23 stolen bases in 30 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 126-16.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 0.79, compared to a 7.26 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .147 batting average against.

South Alabama will enter the match-up at 15-3.

The Jaguars are currently hitting a .319 as a team, along with six homers, and 93 RBI’s, while out-scoring opponents, 98-41.

In the circle, South Alabama currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 1.92, while holding opponents to a .176 batting average against.
