The 8th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team returns to the diamond on Saturday afternoon, when coach Michael Lotief’s squad travels to San Marcos, Texas to take on the Texas St. Bobcats in a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader.

Saturday’s twinbill, whick will kickoff a four-game road swing for Louisiana, will mark the first two games of a three-game, weekend Sun Belt Conference series between the two squads.

First-pitch for the doubleheader on Saturday is scheduled for 1 o’clock.

The two teams will conclude the series with a single game on Sunday at noon.

The Cajuns are currently 25-4, overall, and 10-2 in Sun Belt Conference play, after two of three games from Troy last weekend at Lamson Park.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .334, along with 47 home runs, 195 runs batted in, and 44 stolen bases in 54 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 225-47.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 1.54, compared to a 7.87 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .150 batting average against.

Texas St. has won five of their last six games, will enter the series at 20-13, overall, and 5-3 in league play.

The Bobcats are currently hitting a .297 as a team, along with 40 homers, and 167 RBI’s, while out-scoring opponents, 183-125.

In the circle, Texas St. currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 3.56, while holding opponents to a .238 batting average against.

Louisiana leads the all-time series, 20-2, including wins in the last seven meetings.
