Any Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball player who wishes to transfer will be able to do so once proper procedures are followed.

That's the word from a spokesman for UL Athletics in response to a story on katc.com, which questioned whether transfers would be given a release.

The statement said:

All softball student-athletes will have the opportunity to meet with members of the administration to discuss transfer procedures.  Upon meeting with administrators and submitting a written request, student-athletes will be granted permission to contact, allowing the student-athlete to speak with coaches from any university other than those on the 2018 UL softball schedule and within the Sun Belt ConferenceStudent-athletes receiving permission to contact will be eligible to receive athletically related institutional financial aid and to practice.

In addition, the spokesman confirmed any softball student-athlete currently on scholarship would remain on scholarship if she should choose to remain in school but chooses not to play softball.

The semester ends in December, by which time a new head coach should be in place.

Lotief was fired after a Department of Human Resources investigation discovered allegations of "violent, vulgar language" and "verbal and physical assault" which they stated made for "a hostile learning and working environment." He has denied the allegations.
