Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team captured a Sun Belt Conference road win on Saturday, defeating the Georgia St. Panthers, 67-63, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The victory for Louisiana was their third-straight, and puts their destiny in their own hands, in terms of qualifying for the post-seaon Sun Belt Conference Tournament, as they are now in seventh place in the conference standings.

The win for the Cajuns avenges a 72-67 setback to Georgia St. back on January 23 at the Cajundome.

Louisiana led at halftime, 33-28, before hanging on for the four-point win, their first road win since January 15, when they defeated South Alabama, 65-60, in Mobile, Alabama.

The Cajuns out-shot the Panthers, 41%-39%, and also forced 15 turnovers, to make up for the 36-31 rebound deficit.

Brooklyn Arceneaux led the way for Louisiana, with 19 points and five rebounds, while Kia Wilridge added 13 points and four boards.

In a losing cause for Georgia St., Kendra Long scored 18 points.

With the victory, the Cajuns improved to 13-13, overall, and 6-9 in Sun Belt Conference play, while the Panthers fell to 12-14, overall, and 8-6 in league play.

Louisiana returns to action on Saturday, when they host the South Alabama Jaguars at the Cajundome.
