Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team recorded a Sun Belt Conference home win on Thursday, defeating the South Alabama Jaguars, 69-50, at the Cajundome.

The win, in the opening game of a five-game homestand, was the third-straight for Louisiana, and improved their record at home this season to a perfect 7-0.

Louisiana led the final 35:12 of the contest, as they improved their conference home record to 2-0 on the season.

The Cajuns had three players finish in double-digit points, as they won their third-consecutive game by 17 or more points.

South Alabama led for the first 4:52 of the game, leading by as many as three points, 9-6, at the 7:57 mark of the first quarter, and before later holding an 8-7 advantage with over 4:00 gone in the period.

The Cajuns grabbed a 9-8 lead with a Kia Wilridge jumper at the 5:12 mark, and never looked back, leading 21-9 at the end of the first quarter, and 33-17 as the two teams went into the locker room at halftime.

Louisiana outshot South Alabama from the floor in the first half, 44%/26%, while holding down a 22-18 rebound advantage.

Jaylin Gordon led the way for the Cajuns over the first 20 minutes, scoring 10 points and pulling down 3 rebounds, while Chyna Ellis paced the Jaguars with 7 points and 9 rebounds.

UL didn't take their foot off of the gas in the second half, holding a 49-30 lead after three quarters, before going on to lead by as many as 30 points, 68-38, with 1:57 remaining, before going on to the 19-point win

Louisiana ended the game outshooting South Alabama from the field, 51%/37%, while also finishing with a 34-29 rebound advantage.

Gordon led the way for the Cajuns, with 14 points and 5 rebounds, while Wilridge added 12 points and 5 boards, with Keke Veal chipping in with 10 points and 4 rebounds.

In a losing cause for the Jaguars, Ellis finished with 16 points and 11 boards.

With the victory, Louisiana improved to 13-3, overall, and 6-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, while South Alabama dropped to 6-10, and 2-5, respectively.

The Cajuns return to action on Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock, when they play host to the Troy Trojans in the opening game of a day/night, women's/men's doubleheader at the Cajundome.
