Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team is back in action on Wednesday night, when coach Garry Brodhead’s takes on the Troy Trojans in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Championship in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Tip-off time at Lakefront Arena is scheduled for 7:30 pm, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on our sister-station Talk Radio 960 AM & talkradio960.com, beginning with the pregame show at 7:15 pm.

Louisiana is the six-seed in the tournament, while Troy enters as the #3-seed

Louisiana, who has won 10 of their last 17, fell to Arkansas St., 87-65, in their regular season finale on Thursday night, dropping to 18-11, overall, and 10-10 in league play, while Troy, who beat South Alabama, 86-79, on Saturday, their eighth-consecutive win, is currently 20-9, and 15-5, respectively.

The winner will face second-seeded Arkansas St. on Friday afternoon.

The Cajuns are out-scoring the opposition, 62.0/59.2, while being out-shot by foes from the floor, 42.2%/36.4%, and out-rebounded, 38.0/36.7.

Louisiana is paced by junior guard Keke Veal, who leads the team in scoring, at 13.8 points-per-game, and assists, at 3.3, along with sophomore Jaylin Gordon, who is second on the team in scoring, at 13.7 points a contest.

The Trojans are out-scoring the opposition, 77.3/73.6, while being out-shot by foes from the floor, 41.5%/40.3%, and out-rebounded, 45.3/40.3.

Troy is paced junior guard Ashley Beverly-Kelley, who is averaging 17.7 points and 4.5 rebounds-per-game, and senior forward guard Ronita Garrett, who is averaging 16.0 points and 11.3 rebounds a contest.

The Trojans won both meetings over the Cajuns this season, defeating UL, 60-55, in Lafayette, and 68-63 in Troy, Alabama.
