Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns women’s basketball team fell on the road in non-conference action on Wednesday night, dropping a 78-51 decision to the Mississippi St. Bulldogs, in a match-up played in Starkville, Mississippi.

The game was tight at halftime, with Mississippi St. leading, 28-27, before the Bulldogs   outscored Louisiana, 50-24, in the second half, to go on to the 27-point win.

The Bulldogs out-shot the Cajuns from the field, 36%-27%, and also finished with a 54-43 rebound advantage.

Martha Alwal led the way for Mississippi St., scoring 14 points, while pulling down 14 rebounds.

In a losing cause for Louisiana, Jaylyn Gordon scored 10 points, while Keke Veal added 9.

With the victory, the Bulldogs improved to 8-1 on the young season, while the Cajuns dropped to 4-3.

The UL women return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Ruston, Louisiana to take on Louisiana Tech.
