Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team returns to action on Saturday afternoon, when coach Garry Brodhead’s squad plays host to the Appalachian St. Mountaineers, in a Sun Belt Conference affair.

Tipoff time at the Cajundome is set for 5 o’clock.

The game will mark the opening game of a day/night, men's/women's doubleheader, with the UL men taking on Appalachian St. approximately 35 minutes following the completion of the women's game.

Louisiana, who defeated Alcorn St. on Tuesday night, 73-61, is 8-2 on the season, including a 1-0 Sun Belt Conference mark, while Appalachian St., who beat ULM on Thursday afternoon, 57-54, will enter the match-up with an overall record of 4-6, along with an 1-0 conference mark.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 69.2/54.5, and outshooting them, 43%/38%, while also holding down a 37.3/35.9 rebound advantage.

Louisiana is led by senior guard Keke Veal, who is averaging 15.8 points, to go along with 2.7 rebounds-per-game.

UL also features junior guard Jaylyn Gordon, who is averaging 14.5 points and 4.4 rebounds a contest.

Appalachian St. is being outscored by the opposition, 70.1/65.7, and outshot by opponents, 40%/37%, while holding down a 44.4/39.1 rebounding advantage.

The Mountaineers are led by junior guard Joi Jones, who is averaging 11.3 points and 4.7 rebounds a contest.
