Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team plays their 2015-2016 home opener on Thursday night, when coach Garry Brodhead’s squad plays host to the Southern-New Orleans Lady Knights in a non-conference tilt.

Tipoff time at historic Earl K. Long Gym is set for 7 o’clock, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on Talk Radio 960 AM, and talkradio960.com, beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 pm.

Louisiana, who defeated Ole Miss, 82-78, in their season opener last Sunday, is 1-0 on the young season, while Southern-New Orleans, an NAIA school, will enter the match-up at 0-3.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 82.0/78.0, while being outshot, 41%/40%, and outrebounded, 47.0/42.0.

Louisiana is led by junior guard Jaylyn Gordon, who is averaging 29.0 points, to go along with 6.0 rebounds-per-game.

A native of Edgard, La., Gordon was named the Sun Belt Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday, becoming the first UL player to earn the weekly honor since Mercedes Johnson on February 15, 2010.

In the season opener against Ole Miss, Gordon's team-high 29 points came in the first half allowing the Cajuns to open a 20-point lead over the Rebels at halftime. She shot 7-of-17 from the floor (4-of-9 from three-point), while also adding six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

UL also features senior guard Keke Veal, who is averaging 18.0 and 3.0 rebounds a contest.

The Cajuns are back on the road on Sunday afternoon, when they take on the Houston Cougars.
