Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team is back in action on Thursday, when coach Garry Brodhead’s squad plays host to the Texas St. Bobcats in a Sun Belt Conference affair at the Cajundome.

Tip-off time is scheduled for 5 o’clock, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on ESPN 1420 & espn1420.com, beginning with the pregame show at 4:45 pm.

The contest will be the first game of a women’s/men’s doubleheader, with the UL men taking on Texas St. about 35 minutes following the completion of the women’s game.

Louisiana, who has won eight of their last 12, fell to Troy, 68-63, last Saturday, to drop to 16-8, overall, and 8-7 in league play, while Texas St., who defeated Georgia St., 71-61, last Saturday, is currently 15-9, and 10-5, respectively.

UL is currently in fifth-place in the Sun Belt Conference standings, while Texas St. is two games ahead of UL, in third-place.

The Cajuns are out-scoring the opposition, 62.5/59.6, while being out-shot by foes from the floor, 41.9%/35.9%, and out-rebounded, 38.7/37.7.

Louisiana is paced by sophomore guard Jaylin Gordon, who leads the team in scoring, at 14.3 points-per-game, and junior guard Keke Veal, who is second on the team in scoring, and first in assists, at 12.9 and 3.5, respectively.

The Bobcats are out-scoring the opposition, 63.3/63.1, while being out-shot by foes from the floor, 38.9%/36.8%, and holding down a 41.5/40.9 rebounding advantage.

Texas St. is paced junior guard Erin People, who is averaging 14.2 points and 6.7 rebounds-per-game, and junior guard forward Ayriel Anderson, who is averaging 11.2 points and 3.3 rebounds a contest.

The Cajuns defeated the Bobcats, 83-81, in overtime, back on January 31 in San Marcos, Texas.
