Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team returns to action on Saturday afternoon, when coach Garry Brodhead’s squad plays host to the UT-Arlington Mavericks in a Sun Belt Conference affair.

Tipoff time is set for 2 o’clock.

The game will mark the opening game of a men’s/women’s doubleheader, with the UL men taking on UT-Arlington later in the afternoon.

The game also marks the fourth game of a five-game home stand trip for the Cajuns, who are back on the road again on Thursday of next week, Feb. 4, when they travel to Boone, North Carolina to take on Appalachian St.

Louisiana, who fell to Texas St., 46-42, on Thursday, putting an end to their four-game win streak, is 14-4 on the season, including an 7-2 Sun Belt Conference mark, while UT-Arlington, who beat ULM, 60-50, also on Thursday, will enter the match-up with an overall record of 8-10, along with a 3-5 conference mark.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 65.2/54.6, and outshooting them from the floor, 41%/39%, while also holding down a 36.3/34.7 rebound advantage.

Louisiana is led by junior Jaylin Gordon, who serving an indefinite suspension, while averaging 14.9 points, to go along with 4.4 rebounds-per-game.

UL also features senior guard Keke Veal, who is averaging 14.6 points and 3.2 rebounds a contest.

UT-Arlington is outscoring the opposition, 60.6/57.3, and outshooting opponents, 39.0%/38.5%, while holding down a 36.4/32.9 rebounding advantage.

The Mavericks are led by sophomore guard Cierra Johnson, who is averaging 10.9 points and 3.7 rebounds a contest.
