Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team is back in action on Saturday, when coach Garry Brodhead’s squad plays host to the UT-Arlington Mavericks in a Sun Belt Conference affair at the Cajundome.

Tip-off time is scheduled for 3:15 pm, and you can hear the game on our sister-station, Talk Radio 960 AM & talkradio960.com, beginning with the pregame show at 3 o'clock.

The game will be the second game of a short two-game homestand for the Cajuns, and will be the back end men’s/women's doubleheader, with the UL men taking on UT-Arlington 1 o'clock.

Louisiana, who has won seven of their last nine games, defeated Appalachian St., 70-66, on Thursday, to improve to 15-6, overall, and 7-5 in league play, while UT-Arlington, who defeated Troy, 70-67, back on January 31, is currently 11-9, and 5-6, respectively.

UL is currently in a fourth-place tie the Sun Belt Conference, only one game out of third-place, while UT-Arlington is tied for sixth-place.

The Cajuns are out-scoring the opposition, 62.7/59.1, while being out-shot by foes from the floor, 41.5%/36.4%, and out-rebounded, 38.3/38.0.

Louisiana is paced by sophomore guard Jaylin Gordon, who leads the team in scoring, at 14.2 points-per-game, and junior guard Kia Wilridge, who is second on the team in scoring, first in rebounding, and second in assists at 12.7, 5.2, and 2.6, respectively.

The Mavericks are out-scoring the opposition, 60.4/54.2, out-shooting foes from the floor, 39.3%/35.7%, while holding down a  38.5/35.7 rebound advantage.

UT-Arlington is paced by freshman center Rebekah Van Dijk, who is averaging 13.1 points, to go along with 10.3 rebounds a contest, and senior guard Chaun Williams, who is averaging 9.4 points and 3.4 rebounds-per-game.

This will be the first of two match-ups between the two schools this season, with Louisiana traveling to Arlington, Texas on February 21 to face the Mavericks.
