Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team is back in action on Thursday evening, when coach Garry Brodhead’s plays host to the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs in the opening round of the 2015 Women's Basketball Invitational.

Tip-off time at Earl K. Long is scheduled for 7 o’clock, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on ESPN 1420 & espn1420.com, beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 pm.

Louisiana is in postseason play for only the second time in program history, while UTPA will be making their maiden voyage into the postseason.

Louisiana, who has won 11 of their last 19, fell to the Arkansas St. Red Wolves, 63-61, in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament last weekend in New Orleans, will head into the WBI with an overall record of 19-12 on the season, while UTPA, a member of the WAC, is currently 19-14.

The winner moves on to the second round, to face the winner of the McNeese St./Furman contest, on either Saturday or Sunday. If Louisiana wins, they would host in the next round.

The Cajuns are out-scoring the opposition, 62.1/59.1, while being out-shot by foes from the floor, 42.2%/37.0%, and out-rebounded, 37.8/36.3.

Louisiana is paced by junior guard Keke Veal, who leads the team in scoring, at 14.1 points-per-game, and assists, at 3.4, along with sophomore Jaylin Gordon, who is second on the team in scoring, at 13.6 points a contest.

The Broncs are being out-scored by the opposition, 68.4/64.4, while being out-shot by foes from the floor, 36.5%/34.8%, and out-rebounded, 40.9/40.0.

UTPA is paced sophomore guard Shawnte' Goff, who is averaging 15.1 points and 3.9 rebounds-per-game, and senior forward guard Brittany Bush, who is averaging 10.2 points and 6.5 rebounds a contest.

Louisiana leads the all-time series, 28-10, with the last meeting taking place back in 2006.
