Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team returns to action on Thursday, when coach Garry Brodhead’s squad travels to Boone, North Carolina to take on the Appalachian St. Mountaineers in a Sun Belt Conference affair.

Tipoff time is set for 4 o’clock.

The game will mark the opening game of a men’s/women’s doubleheader, with the UL men taking on Appalachian St. later in the evening.

The game marks only game of the week, and the lone game of a short one-game road trip for the Cajuns, who return home on Thursday, February 11 when they play host to Arkansas St.

The Cajuns will be going for the season series sweep, after defeating the Mountaineers, 60-51, back on January 2 at the Cajundome.

Louisiana, who defeated ULM, 52-40, on Tuesday, is 16-4 on the season, including an 9-2 Sun Belt Conference mark, while Appalachian St., who lost to South Alabama, 71-55, last Saturday, will enter the match-up with an overall record of 6-13, along with a 3-7 conference mark.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 64.4/53.7, and outshooting them from the floor, 41%/39%, while also holding down a 35.6/33.7 rebound advantage.

Louisiana is led by junior Jaylin Gordon, who serving an indefinite suspension, while averaging 14.9 points, to go along with 4.4 rebounds-per-game.

UL also features senior guard Keke Veal, who is averaging 14.6 points and 2.3 rebounds a contest.

Appalachian St. is being outscored by the opposition, 71.3/64.7, and being outshot by opponents, 42%/38%, while holding down a 41.6/39.5 rebounding advantage.

The Mountaineers are led by sophomore guard Madi Story, who is averaging 11.2 points and 4.2 rebounds a contest.
