Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team rolled to a non-conference win on Thursday evening, hammering the Southern-New Orleans Lady Knights, 81-28, at historic Earl K. Long Gym.

The game marked the 2015-2016 home opener for Louisiana.

The Cajuns, who were in complete control from start to finish, led at the half, 48-15, outshooting SUNO from the field, 54%-28%, while holding down a 27-13 rebound advantage.

Keke Veal scored 11 points in the first half, moving into the top ten for points scored in school history in the process, while Simone Fields added 9.

Louisiana never looked back in the second half, going on to the 53-point win, their sixth-straight victory, dating back to the end of last season.

The Cajuns finished the game outshooting the Lady Knights from the field, 50%-25%, while also finishing with a 50-28 rebound advantage.

Fields led the way for Louisiana, finishing with a game-high, and matching a career-high 15 points, while Veal added 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals, with Kia Wilridge chipping in with 11.

In a losing cause for the Lady Knights, Micah Brooks had 8 points.

With the victory, Louisiana improved to 2-0 on the young season.

The Cajuns return to action on Sunday, when the hit the road to take on the Houston Cougars.
