UL Women’s Basketball Falls To UALR, 63-57

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team fell at home in Sun Belt Conference action on Wednesday night, dropping a 63-57 decision to the UALR Trojans at the Cajundome.
The victory for UALR moves their current winning streak to a modest two games, while the loss extends Louisiana’s current losing streak to eight games.
The win for the Trojans also completes a regular season sweep of UL, after defeating the Cajuns, 74-60, back on January 29 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
UALR led at halftime, 29-23, out-shooting Louisiana from the field, 50%-32%, in the opening half, while holding down a 17-13 rebounding edge.
The Trojans then built their lead in the second half to as many as 11 points, before going on to the 6-point win.
UALR out-shot the Cajuns from the field, 52%-33%, and finished also with a 39-29 rebounding advantage.
Kierra Clark led the way for UALR, with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Hannah Fohne added nine points and nine boards.
In a losing cause for Louisiana, Sylvana Okde scored 17 points, while Jaylyn Gordon contributed 13.
With the victory, the Trojans improved to 12-10, overall, and 7-5 in Sun Belt Conference play, while the Cajuns fell to 10-13, overall, and 3-9 in league play.
Louisiana returns to action on Saturday, when they host the Arkansas St. Red Wolves at the Cajundome.
