Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team fell on the road in Sun Belt Conference action on Wednesday night, dropping an 80-71 decision to the WKU Lady Toppers in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The victory for WKU moves their current winning streak to six games, while the loss puts an end to Louisiana’s four-game win streak.

The win for the Lady Toppers also completes a regular season sweep of UL, after defeating the Cajuns, 68-63, back on January 25 at the Cajundome.

Louisiana out-shot WKU from the field, 52%-48%, in the opening half, but wer out-rebounded, 18-9, as the Lady Toppers went into the locker room with a 37-28 halftime advantage.

The Lady Toppers then built their lead in the second half to as many as 17 points,  before going on to the 9-point win.

The Cajuns out-shot WKU from the field, 47%-44%, but were out-rebounded, 36-27, and also turned the basketball over 19 times.

Chastity Gooch led the way for WKU, with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Kendall Noble added 17 more points.

In a losing cause for Louisiana, Kia Wilridge scored a game-high 21 points, while Brooklyn Arcenneaux contributed 16.

With the victory, the Lady Toppers improved to 20-8, overall, and 12-5 in Sun Belt  Conference play, while the Cajuns fell to 14-14, overall, and 7-10 in league play.
