Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team accepted an invitation to compete in the sixth annual Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) on Monday night.

Louisiana, who went 19-12 this season, will play host to UT Pan American on Thursday night in an opening-round match-up at Earl K. Long Gym at 7 o'clock.

The postseason appearance will be the second in school history for Louisiana (19-12), with their last appearance coming in the 2007 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.

UTPA, who will come into Thursday night's match-up with a record of 19-14, will be making their first-ever postseason appearance, fell to New Mexico St., 70-52, in the WAC Tournament title game last Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Cajuns are a #2-seed on their side of the bracket, while the Broncos are a #7-seed.

The winner will move on to the second round, where they will face the Furman/McNeese St. winner.

The WBI is a four-round, 16-team, single-elimination bracket tournament, with second round games taking place on Saturday and Sunday, and the quarterfinals being held on March 21 and 22, with the semifinals scheduled for March 25 and 26, and the WBI Championship Game set for either March 28 or 29, all at campus sites.
