On Thursday March1, 2018 at 5 pm the Student Government Association of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will be holding a candle light vigil in honor of the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida.

The vigil will be held at the Student Union courtyard and will be open to the public to attend. A limited number of candles will be provided, and the SGA suggests that participants bring their own (or download the candle app).

The Student Government Association of UL asks that you join them in offering condolences to and stand in solidarity with the family, friends, and community of the victims, and also join them in striving to make public education institutions a place where students can feel safe while attaining their education.

A Condolence

A condolence to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on the loss of their students and staff.

 

WHEREAS seventeen people lost their lives in the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School; and

 

WHEREAS this tragedy has affected the lives of family, friends, and the surrounding community; and

 

WHEREAS the safety of public education institutions is a priority as it directly affects the University of Louisiana at Lafayette;

 

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that Student Government Association issues their condolences, offering our solidarity during these difficult times to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on the loss of their students and staff. - Student Government Association of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette
