Unrestrained Driver Killed In St. Landry Parish Crash
An Opelousas man is dead after a single vehicle crash in St. Landry Parish Sunday morning.
Master Trooper Brooks David reported 33-year-old Clarence Robins was killed in the crash that occurred on La. 31 near Little Teche Road.at approximately 8 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators determined Robbins was traveling northbound on La. 31 when, for unknown reasons, he failed to negotiate a curve and exited the roadway hitting a tree.
Robins suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The St. Landry Parish Coroner's Office pronounced Robins dead at he scene.
Impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash, however; toxicology samples were obtained from Robins and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
David said wearing a seat belt can dramatically reduce the chance of injury and death when someone is involved in a crash. Motorists not wearing seat belts remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes.
