The state's insurer of last resort is offering to settle the case once and for all.

Citizens Insurance had been ordered to pay $93-million for taking too long to handle insurance claims from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The insurance group is now offering to settle the dispute for up to $80-million. The group says only $25-million of that amount can be used for attorneys' fees.

A U.S. Supreme Court appeal is still a possibility.
