Update – Victim Identified In St. Mary Parish Homicide

24-year-old Jarnell A. McDaniel of Franklin is the man who was found dead in a roadway early Monday morning.

With the assistance of Franklin Police and U.S. Marshals, St. Mary Parish deputies were able to arrest 23-year-old Jazmine Jamal Jackson of Franklin, charging Jackson with first degree murder.

Detectives say evidence at the scene shows McDaniel died of gunshot wounds. Authorities believe Jackson drove McDaniel to Sorrel Bridge Approach Road and shot him.
