Though there are no laws in Louisiana against openly carrying your weapon, Glen Fleming from Acadiana Gunworks in Scott cautioned gun owners to use some common sense before venturing out.

Fleming said that though he doesn't recommend do so, he said for those who do openly carry to expect to be hassled about it by members of the public.

"Now if you go into a business or establishment where they say no weapons allowed, then you can't carry in there, obviously," Fleming said.

Doing so, while it won't force you to lose your weapon, could still bring you into trouble with law enforcement and could prevent you from being able to visit that establishment ever again.

Also discussed on Firearms Friday:

  • Use common sense while using tannerite.
  • Are there any restrictions to openly carrying with a condition one weapon?
