Once every few years, holidays important to Louisianans fall in the same week. This year, Mardi Gras will be Tuesday, February 13th and Valentine’s Day will fall on the next day. It may prove to be interesting for restaurants to get couples to eat out on the second most popular holiday. Erika Burns with the Louisiana Restaurant Association says some eateries are getting creative with options.

"They're extending it through the weekend in some cases.  Or in other cases they're actually offering Valentine's Day deals prior to Mardi Gras."
Burns says those who observe Lent will be able to find a multitude of choices among restaurants on Valentine’s Day.
"Almost all restaurants have some kind of seafood option.  So even if you're going to a steakhouse, I'm sure you'll be able to find something to eat on Valentine's Day, which happens to be Ash Wednesday."
Burns says if you are considering taking your sweetheart out for dinner Tuesday, it’s best to make sure you have a reservation so you’re not left out.
"Valentine's Day is a very popular day to eat out.  Regardless of whether or not it's around Mardi Gras or any other factors, people circle that day on their calendars as a day to go out and eat at a restaurant."
