Iberia Parish law enforcement officials arrested two individuals who were allegedly involved in vehicle burglaries. Sheriff Louis Ackal informed KPEL that detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office were on patrol when they observed some alleged criminal activity going on in the area of Allen Street in New Iberia.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Investigations Directed Patrol Unit was working when they arrested two suspects believed to be involved in vehicle burglaries.

They report they saw two people on bicycles.  They questioned the two, and  deputies say after more investigation, they discovered a handgun and ammunition along with electronics in their possession.  Deputies say they believe the items were stolen.

Deputies says the suspects cooperated with the detectives.  18-year-old Kevin Francis of New Iberia was charged with two counts of attempted burglary, simple burglary, theft and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.  The second suspect was a 16-year-old male juvenile.  Juvenile detectives continued that investigation.
