A vehicle on fire under a carport ended up setting a house on fire.  It happened early Saturday morning in the 500 block of Harrell Drive in Lafayette.

According to our newspartners at KATC, the fire was originally reported as a vehicle fire under a carport, but by the time that firefighters got there, the flames had jumped to the carport and roof.

The vehicle's owner, Nick Hill, said that he parked his 2012 Ford F150 under the carport when he noticed sparks coming from the engine compartment.  He ran into the home and got his roommate up and both made their way outside.

Firefighters report that there was heavy smoke, heat and fire damage to the inside of the home.  They determined that the fire started in the vehicle, but they are unsure what caused the fire initially.

No one was injured in the fire.
