As Hurricane Harvey continues to pound our neighbors in Texas, Acadiana residents are watching the rain and the waterways here, as a State of Emergency has been declared for Lafayette Parish. On Monday, August 28 at about 11:30 AM, I drove down Camellia Boulevard to take a look at the Vermilion River. This video was taken from the walkway beside Ruffino's on the River, behind the Breast Center of Acadiana. In the past, we have seen the water cover the boardwalk railings completely, rising all the way up to the bottom of Ruffino's deck. Let's hope we get a break and the water has a chance to flow out before the next wave(s) of rain get here.
