Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillion  is charged for violating ethics law in connection with a home purchase. According to our news partner KATC  Couvillion purchased a home at a Sheriff's sale auction for $58,000 when the home was assessed for $106,000. State ethics law forbids public servants from entering into contracts with agencies they serve. The Board of Ethics will conduct a hearing on the charge and could fine Couvillion up to $10,000. Last year KATC investigated the sale of the home in question.
