Firefighters battled a commercial fire off Verot School Road in Lafayette Friday night that left the building with heavy damage.

According to Lafayette Fire Department investigator Alton Trahan, firefighters were called out to the scene after receiving a report of smoke coming from a building in the 1500 block of Verot School Road.

When emergency crews arrived at Brian Hebert Woodworks, they discovered smoke and flames in the back of the building. It took 30 firefighters 30 minutes to get the blaze under control, Trahan said.

No injuries were reported.
