The ACLU is filing a lawsuit against the city of Ville Platte. It has to do with a 10 pm “walking curfew” implemented by the city towards pedestrians. Louisiana ACLU executive director Marjorie Esman says the ordinance is unconstitutional. Esman says it unfairly impacts lower income residents. Esman says residents should be able to walk where they want, when they want. Ville Platte’s walking curfew has been in effect for about a year. No comment yet from the city or its Mayor.
