VINTON, La. (AP) — The Vinton Town Council has unanimously voted to enter into a contract with Waste Management for trash pickup.

Mayor Kenny Stinson says the town's current contract, with IESI, expires in January. Before that contract was signed five years ago, Waste Management had been the town's trash hauler.

Cade Cole, the town's attorney, tells the American Press the contract with Waste Management that was approved Tuesday night will save businesses and residents money. He said the new base fee for trash pickup — $15.24 — will save customers $6.50 a month.
