“The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra and Conservatory of Music, along with Lafayette Convention Visitors Commission, Townsquare Media, Party Central and Moss Motors are presenting Red, White & BOOM! on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. Grammy nominee Marcia Ball will kick off the musical celebration in Parc International with her smoky blues voice. Marcia Ball is hailed as the “bayou queen of the piano, steeped in blues and honky-tonk” by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and will be performing alongside your Acadiana Symphony. Numerous contests will be held in Parc International including ASO’s 2nd Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest sponsored by Legends! For the first time ever your ASO is hosting a Mercedes Car Raffle sponsored by Moss Motors! The drawing for the 2012 red Mercedes will take place just before the big BOOM! Raffle tickets are available at your ASO box office or online.
“Parc International is not the only place full of patriotic fun! Festivities will continue inParc Sans Souci where your Acadiana Symphony is hosting the Conservatory KidZone filled with water slides, face painting, arts and crafts, balloon animals, costume contests, and much more water filled fun for kids! Parents can enjoy a broadcast of Marcia Ball and the ASO performance while their children play and keep cool in the Conservatory KidZone! The celebration has also expanded into Parc Putnam where local bands will be celebrating the 4th of July at “Freedom Fest!”

“In collaboration with FoodNet of Lafayette, ASO is offering free concession tickets for canned food donations brought to the celebration. For every 5 non-perishable food items brought, patrons will receive 1 Red, White and BOOM concession ticket redeemable at all 3 parks. FoodNet’s most needed food items are boxed cornbread, canned tuna and peas. Help ASO support your local food pantry!
“International and Sans Souci gates open and festivities begin at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. The spectacular Grand Finale Fireworks show will take place at approximately 9:30 pm. A $5 admission fee to Red, White and BOOM! gives patrons access to all three parcs. All proceeds from Red, White and Boom! benefit ASO’s children’s education programs.
