(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter yesterday applauded the U.S. House of Representatives for passing an amendment that would prevent any funds made available under the continuing resolution from being provided to Planned Parenthood.

“I’ve long fought to end the flow of federal tax dollars to pay for abortions, and I’m completely focused on working to make sure this provision in the House-passed continuing resolution becomes law.  If we can do that, it will be a huge success for the culture of life,” said Vitter.
On the first day of legislative session that senators were allowed to officially submit legislation, Vitter reintroduced his bill to amend title X of the Public Health Service Act to prohibit family planning grants from being awarded to entities that perform abortions.
