Warrant Issued For Downtown Assault Suspect

The search is on for the suspect believed to have attacked a 30-year-old man in downtown Lafayette. The  Lafayette Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Joshua Richard of Lafayette for second degree battery. According to the victim, he bumped into Richard on Jefferson Street around 2 a.m. last Friday morning. After the encounter, Richard followed the victim to the intersection of Vermilion and Jefferson Streets when Richard struck the victim in the face. Detectives are asking anyone who knows Richard's whereabouts, to call Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
