MINDEN, La. (AP) — The Webster Parish Sheriff's Office will be adding motorcycles to its fleet.

The Times reports Sheriff Gary Sexton recently was able to acquire two used motorcycles from the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office. The police-packaged Harley-Davidson motorcycles are being retooled with new decals and radios.

Sexton says several deputies with motorcycle endorsements have shown interest, but he hasn't made the choice which two will get the initial assignments.

Sexton envisions the motorcycles being a public relations tool, allowing those deputies to make the visits to schools and civic organizations and also lead funeral processions.

The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office added two motorcycles less than two years ago, and Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle said their addition has been nothing but positive.
