Wellhead Ruptures

A wellhead explosion near Maurice has left one man dead and two other workers hospitalized.

A gas wellhead pipe ruptured on East Leblanc Road around 12:30 p.m. at the Hilcorp Energy Company's Production Facility. Lafayette City and State Police Hazmat Crews have been trying to secure the wellhead for hours. There were no environmental threats.  The two injured workers had minor to moderate injuries.
