PORT ALLEN, La. (AP) — The West Baton Rouge Parish School Board has unanimously approved a request from Superintendent David Corona to give the district's nearly 600 employees a 13th check in the amount of $800.

The check will be issued to employees in December and funded through the school district's Education Facilities Improvement District fund.

School Board President Jason Manola tells The Advocate the supplements will be prorated according to the percentage of the year of employment.

Manola says employees must be employed by the district on Dec. 1 to receive the check.
