West Carroll Parish Escapees Apprehended In Florida

OAK GROVE, La. (AP) — Two inmates from West Carroll Detention Center who escaped last week were arrested Tuesday night in Florida.

West Carroll Parish Sheriff Jerry Philley tells The News-Star 31-year-old Henry Curtis and 27-year-old Steven McCarty were found by authorities near Jacksonville, Fla.

Philley said Curtis and McCarty’s accomplice was Danika Darley, a Florida resident. He said the trio were arrested without incident and are awaiting extradition to Louisiana.

The sheriff says Curtis and McCarty managed to escape from the facility through an already broken lock on a door shortly after midnight Saturday.

Philley said both men are from the New Orleans area and were serving a 12-year sentence in West Carroll.
