What??…A Bacon Shortage?! Say It Isn’t So!

It seems everybody loves bacon.

That's doubly true here in south Louisiana. We put it in almost everything, green beans, turnip greens, blackeyed peas, baked beans, bloody Mary's, and the list goes on. We also love to simply munch down on the stuff.

But we may be on the verge of a bacon shortage, according to NBC News. They tell us recent reports from the Department of Agriculture indicate bacon supplies are at their lowest level in 60 years. Inventory levels have been dropping steadily for several years. Prices rose in January, with more prices increases undoubtedly coming.

I'm NOT resorting to that turkey stuff!
