While speaking to the Baton Rouge press club, Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne discussed his political aspirations.

Even though the next governor's election is not until 2015, there has already been speculation on who will eventually run. Some of that speculation has been fueled by Retired Lt. General Russell Honore telling reporters he may run in 2015. But Dardenne says it's too early for that:

We haven't even set the sun on the governor's first year of a four-year term and already we're looking at the presidential race, and clearly he's up and people are talking about the governor's race.

But, Dardenne did express interest in one day becoming the governor of the Bayou State:

I love the job I have and the only other job I'd be interested in would be governor.
