New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton offered no health update on defensive tackle Nick Fairley as mini-camp closed today, leaving fans curious as to whether Fairley, who has a heart condition that might prevent him from playing, will play again.

Fairley was scheduled to be paid the second half of his $8 million signing bonus he received as part of his new contract his March. He has not been present at OTAs or the team's mini-camp this week.

With his football future in question, the Saints have signed former Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Tony McDaniel, according to McDaniel's agent.

McDaniel, 32, comes to New Orleans with plenty of experience.

Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2006, McDaniel also had stops in Miami, Seattle, Tampa Bay, and back to Seattle before settling with the Saints today.

In his 11 year career, he's started 48 games, appeared in 141, and served as a rotational defensive tackle when he won a Super Bowl with Seattle.

He joins Saints DTs Sheldon Rankins, Tyeler Davison and David Onyemata on the current roster.
