Woman Hurt In Lafayette As Accused Thief Tries To Steal Purse

UPDATE — Lafayette Police have identified the person believed to be responsible for an attempted armed robbery on Ambassador Caffery Parkway last week.

Cpl. Paul Mouton with the Lafayette Police Department said a warrant has been issued for 31-year-old Dexter Trahan of Duson.

If you know where he is, you’re asked to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

(June 7, 2013) — A woman was mugged Thursday afternoon while walking to her car.

Lafayette Police say it happened in the 4400 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway where she was approached by a black male suspect who allegedly tried to take her purse from her. Spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton says the suspect then hit her in the head with a handgun, then got away after someone blew their car horn.

The victim went to the hospital with minor injuries. The suspect was wearing a camouflage jacket and blue jean shorts. If you have any information, call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS.
