GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a Louisiana woman reportedly kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend from the Baton Rouge area was rescued in Gulfport and the man was taken into custody.

Police Sgt. Damon McDaniel tells The Sun Herald detectives received information Monday that Jeremiah Rodriguez, believed traveling with the woman, was in the area, and they found them about 6:15 p.m. in the parking lot of a gas station.

He says Louisiana authorities had issued an alert earlier Monday reporting Rodriguez broke into the woman's home and held the woman, her three children and two cousins at gunpoint for several hours. He allegedly took the woman against her will around noon.

Rodriguez was wanted on charges of aggravated burglary, false imprisonment and kidnapping.

It was unclear if he has an attorney.
