SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A Caddo District Court judge has sentenced a 26-year-old Minden woman to life in prison in the stabbing death of a Barksdale Air Force Base airman.

The Times reports (http://bit.ly/ILUTZ8 ) Judge Mike Pitman sentenced Kimethia Coleman Thursday for the 2010 slaying of Air Force Staff Sgt. Brian Spinks.

Coleman was convicted just over a week ago of second-degree murder in the Jan. 17, 2010 death of Spinks in his Shreveport apartment. Prosecutors say Spinks was stabbed more than 60 times, and his throat was slashed from ear-to-ear.

Investigators say Coleman and Spinks were romantically involved, and she stabbed him during a domestic dispute.

Coleman's lawyer argued that she acted in self-defense and that Spinks was drunk and angry.
