NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Algiers Development District board has awarded a $2.8 million contract to Durr Construction, a Harahan company that will build a 2-mile path on the Mississippi River levee from the Algiers Point ferry terminal to the old Todd Shipyard.

Development district executive director Kathy Lynn Honaker says the contract calls for three ramps to path, and lamp posts every 150 feet.

The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/PljMni) work on the project is expected to begin Nov. 1.

When finished, the path will tie into an existing paved ribbon connecting the Algiers Point ferry terminal to the Gretna terminal.
