It was total domination for Acadiana High as the Wreckin' Rams took one step closer to claiming another district title while Lafayette High is still looking for its first district win.

On offense, the Veer Attack racked up 448 total yards, achieving phenomenal balance with 227 of those yards on the ground and 221 of those yards through the air. Eight different players carried the football while seven different players caught passes.

On defense, the Terrible Turks held the Mighty Lions to 108 total yards and kept the LHS offense from scoring a touchdown for the third straight week.

Following a low-scoring 1st Quarter, Acadiana extended its 3-0 lead with RB Ziggy Francis' first of three rushing touchdowns of the night, a 9-yard run that put the Wreckin' Rams up 10-0 with 9:44 left in the 2nd Quarter.

But Lafayette responded quickly as RB Corren Norman ran back the ensuing kickoff to bring the Mighty Lions within 4 points, 10-6, as the two-point try failed.

But that was the closest LHS got.

As a matter of fact, only two plays is how long it took for AHS to get back on the scoreboard. After recovering a LHS onside kick, RB Dillon Monnette raced to the end zone to put his team up 17-6, capping off a 23 second span which saw three TDs scored within it.

Seven minutes later, Francis added his second touchdown of the night and QB Jaylon Borel launched his first of two touchdown passes, a deep strike down the middle of the field to WR/RB Braylen Trahan with 10 seconds left in the 1st Half. By halftime, the Wreckin' Rams had built a 31-6 lead.

The 2nd half began as it ended for AHS as Borel launched another deep pass that ended with another TD, this time to WR Jerin Menard. This put Acadiana High up 38-6.

Add in Francis' third TD of the night, as well as Kicker Noah Anderson's second field goal of the night, and the Wreckin' Rams finished off Senior Night with a 47-6 triumph over their crosstown rivals.

This leaves the Mighty Lions (1-6, 0-3) with only one win on the season, a week 2 victory over the Opelousas Tigers. And it doesn't get any easier for them next week as they come back to Mighty Lion Stadium to host a very good Sulphur team.

Kickoff next Friday night is set for 7 PM on the home of the Lafayette High Mighty Lions football team, Newstalk 96.5 FM KPEL. Ian Auzenne (play-by-play) and Brandon Comeaux (color) will have the call.
