The Wall Street Journal 'Market Watch' has just published research that can make Louisianans proud.

Using data compiled by the Centers for Disease Control Harvard professor Edward Glaeser, Vancouver School of Economics professor Joshua Gottlieb and Harvard doctoral student Oren Ziv factored in sex, race, age and income to determine that Lafayette, LA is the happiest place in the USA to live. Rounding out the top five cities were four more from Louisiana: Houma, Shreveport-Bossier, Baton Rouge and Alexandria.

The unhappiest cities in the country bottom out with New York City followed by St. Joesph Missouri, South Bend Indiana, and Erie Pennsylvania.
